1. UK 12" white label test pressings of singles released by the Smiths in are quite rare as they were never used for promotion. They are from the initial pressing of the 12" format, and their labels are simply white paper ones, with perhaps title and band name handwritten on them.5/5(2).

4. Its follow-up, "This Charming Man" (October ), met with critical approval and reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart. In the band reached number 12 in the UK with the single " What Difference Does It Make? " and went to number two on the UK Albums Chart with their debut album, The Smiths.

These dates form the last bunch before the Smiths went on their first real tour in support of their debut album early in "This Charming Man" was in the charts, Smithsmania was the buzzword, the concerts were becoming wilder as they were attended by eager fans as well as curious non-devotees who wanted to find out who were these supposed saviours of rock'n'roll.
